The Philadelphia Family Centers: An Assessment And Strategic Assistance
CAPD is working with the Philadelphia Office of Community Family Center Partnerships, an agency of the Mayor's Cabinet on Children and Families, to assess the work of the family centers and to build the capacity of individual centers and the network of centers to carry out strategic planning and self-assessment guided by identified child, family, neighborhood, and system outcomes. Our work has included:
a strategic review of family center practice to assess the sufficiency of their work to affect both individual family and child and broad neighborhood and systems change outcomes;
independent assessment of pilot outcomes-oriented projects in each of the 13 centers in the network;
technical assistance to center and central management staff on evaluation strategies and data collection and analysis methods;
consultation on the development of strategic planning tools and computerized information management systems; and
design of a cross-center network-wide evaluation.
