Planning and Documentation Support for the Five and Fit Pilot Project

The Five and Fit project is a pilot program of the Intergenerational Center at Temple University to reduce or prevent obesity among pre-school age children, through combined efforts of families, children, early education and care centers and older adult volunteers. CAPD helped to inform the planning through a literature review of factors that contribute to obesity reduction and prevention among pre-school age children and their families and via focus groups with families and staff and management of the pilot centers about their understandings of nutrition, child health and opportunities for early intervention and support. CAPD is helping to assess implementation, early results and replication lessons-- assuming that early results suggest replication is warranted.
