Children First Initiative: Improving Outcomes For Young Children And Families In Eight Connecticut Communities

Children First Initiative seeks to improve the lives and futures of young children in Connecticut by promoting the active involvement of parents and the community in child development and education. Funded by the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, the Initiative focuses on eight sites in communities around the state.

At the request of the Graustein Memorial Fund, CAPD is conducting a four-year evaluation of the Children First Initiative in all eight sites. We are also distilling the lessons offered by this Initiative for distribution to communities across the country that are working on school readiness efforts.

CAPD is also working with these sites and the state to develop outcome indicators.
