Claremont Collaborative

Democracy, Race, Community Building is a joint project by CAPD and the Claremont Graduate University designed to provide lessons from effective multi-racial community building efforts. The project is funded by the Schuman Brother’s Fund (which is headed by Bill Moyers), the Kellogg Foundation, and Project Change. The project has identified 11 programs (including Project Change) that it felt met the criteria of effective multi-racial community building efforts that are addressing issues of prejudice or institutional racism directly or indirectly (El Centro de la Raza, Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, the Fels Cluster of Schools in Philadelphia, etc.). The first product of this effort is a handbook of lessons to be produced in several languages and widely disseminated
